Prof Dr Michel-Alexandre CARDIN
Michel-Alexandre Cardin is assistant professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the National University of Singapore since July 2011. His research focuses on the development, evaluation, and application of systematic procedures to enable better flexibility in complex engineering systems facing significant uncertainty in the environment, markets, regulations, and technology. He is a research affiliate at the MIT Engineering Systems Division, the NUS Institute of Real Estate Studies, and co-investigator in the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology.
He earned a PhD in Engineering Systems and a Master of Science in Technology and Policy from MIT, a Master of Applied Science in Aerospace Science and Engineering from the University of Toronto, and a honours BSc in Physics from McGill University. He serves on the Editorial Review Board of the journal IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, and has published and/or served as reviewer for the Journal of Mechanical Design, Journal of Design Research, Research in Engineering Design, and Risk Analysis. He is a member of INCOSE, Singapore Chapter.
He will contribute his research experience on the topic of flexibility and real options in engineering design as it applies to complex energy systems.
