Dr Vinh N. DANG
Vinh N. Dang leads the Risk and Human Reliability Group at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI). His main research interests are in Human Reliability Analysis, dynamic simulation-based safety assessment, and PSA in novel applications. Complementary to this research, the group carries out regulatory support tasks for the Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate (ENSI). In PSA applications outside the nuclear domain, the group is adapting PSA methods for the risk assessment of PSI’s Proton Therapy facilities.
Dr Dang is a member of the Nuclear Energy Agency CSNI Working Group on Risk Assessment (WGRisk) as well as the Swiss delegated representative for the OECD Halden Project (Man-Technology-Organization topics). He has contributed to the Technical Program Committees for many PSA-related conferences, in particular for the Probabilistic Safety Assessment and Management (PSAM) conferences, serving as Scientific Secretary for PSAM7/ESREL’04, Berlin, June 2004), and currently as a Board Member for the International Association for Probabilistic Safety Assessment and Management.
He holds a B.S. from the University of California, Berkeley, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), all in Nuclear Engineering.
